Marc Corriveau: Issues

Michigan has seen some tough times, but I am confident we can pull through stronger tomorrow. We have tremendous resources, both natural and in our skilled workforce. I am committed to fighting for policies that will create jobs, strengthen education, and protect our way of life.

Fighting to cut state spending, reform government

As a State Representative, I voted for much-needed reforms to streamline state spending and restore integrity to state government. I supported a plan to cut lawmaker pay – including my own – and end free lifetime health care for legislators. I also proposed a plan to ban lawmakers from becoming lobbyists for one year after leaving office to ensure that our leaders are working for the best interests of the residents they represent. I have seen firsthand how state government puts partisan politics ahead of good public policy, and I am fighting for change to make sure that government works for our residents.

Fighting to create jobs, protect workers

As your State Representative, my top priority is to create good-paying jobs now for our workers. I support a plan that gives priority for economic development projects to companies that employ Michigan workers. I voted to give incentives to businesses looking to expand or relocate so they will create jobs in Michigan. I am fighting to move our state forward and get Michigan back to work.

Fighting to strengthen our schools

I am fighting to ensure that our local schools have the resources they need to give our children a high-quality education, which is why I voted for a plan to increase state funding for our schools. Michigan will need a highly educated workforce to attract new businesses and investment, and it all begins in the classroom. I am working to strengthen our local schools, colleges and universities so they can prepare our students to compete for the good-paying jobs of the 21st century global economy.

Fighting to protect our way of life

I am fighting to protect our Great Lakes, beautiful green spaces, nature trails and all the other outdoor resources that make our community such a special place to live, work and raise a family. I voted for a plan to end the massive influx of Canadian and out-of-state trash into Michigan landfills. I also support a plan to keep big companies from siphoning our Great Lakes water and selling it for profit.
